“Art in the After Culture” by Ben Davis

In this book, Ben Davis (@benstoppable) is really able to process our particular historical moment and this is the main reason why you should pick a copy sooner than later!

In this book you can read a series of essays on the current state of art criticism and the role that art plays in our society today. Throughout the essays Davis asks:
What is art as we understand it today?
How is art used by dominant social forces?
Can art be part of activism against regressive social forces and climate change?

We really enjoyed these essays! We liked that you can read one at a time and not feel like you are losing the plot if you put the book down for a bit.

Highly recommended if anyone wants a primer on current art criticism and the state of our culture.
